Description
Mary D. Hume (Steamer) shipwreck, a stormy rainy day in Gold Beach Oregon made for some beautiful clouds. This is where the Rouge river runs into the Pacific Ocean.
The Mary D. Hume, built at this spot in 1881, had the longest active service of any commercial vessel on the Pacific coast, a total of 97 years as a freighter, whaling vessel, to towboat service.
She, broke after being docked here, it took seven years to rig a sling. When they tried to lift her out for repairs the sling broke. Then its structure failed. The boat fell and sank in four feet of water, this is where she remains. She was entered on the National Register of Historical places but she is not being preserved so less and less of her remains each year.

Great composition and wonderful contrast in textures of all the elements in this image.
