Weed City Limit sign, Weed California.
Weed is a historic lumber town named after it's founder, the owner of the local lumber mill Abner Weed. Abner discovered that the areas strong winds were helpful in drying lumber. In 1897 Abner bought the Siskiyou Lumber and Mercantile Mill a 280 acres "what is now known as Weed" for $400. By the 1940's Weed boasted the worlds largest sawmill.
I'm an artist & photographer from Northern California, I grew up in the beauty of the Country but never really realized it and appreciated it until I started capturing it through the lens. My favorite type of photography is the long exposure photography, black and white, light trails and light painting. Having an image in my head and figuring out how to make it happen. I had no idea the possibilities of photography until I took it up a few years back, it's limitless. Learning and creating is a passion and an addiction. This was a very popular stopping point on trips in the 1970s for obvious reasons, if you lived in the 70s. Love it Marnie! l/f

That's funny, thank you Jenny.

I believe I have lived there for many years, but do not remember much, the food was good.
Marnie Patchett replied:
Very funny! Thanks for making me laugh.
